THE VISIONARY

Prathan L. Powell, Sr. is a native of Columbus Georgia.

In 1991, Mr. Powell accepted his call to start and pastor World Changes Tabernacle Church, a non-denominational five-fold ministry, as Senior Pastor.  Reverend Powell’s mission for World Changes Tabernacle is to teach and preach a simple gospel so that all might be saved. Since 1991 the Church has continued to become a dynamic and energetic ministry here in southeast Georgia and Southwest Alabama areas.  Prophet Powell’s ministry has taken him to the world in lands such as Israel, Canada, Trinidad, and Germany.

Under his strong administrative abilities, the World Changes Tabernacle Church ministries quickly became an effective outreach.  They include a Men’s Ministry and Couples Enrichment Ministry (along with his wife).  He spearheaded SOY (Save Our Youth) computer training and job placement program and PLP Adopt-A-Block Program where he aided families with clothing, food, back to school supplies and Christmas toys annually.  

Reverend Powell’s caring style of Pastoral Care coupled with his ability to operate as Teacher, Pastor, and Prophet allows him to be Executive Manager where he oversees operations and provides instruction as a Consultant for several ministries. 

Reverend Powell is a well-known Community Advocate in the Columbus, Georgia area.  He served as Chancellor of WCT Christian Life School of Theology, CASA Volunteer and  Chief Executive Officer Miracles in the City Foundation, Inc.   Other Community areas of Services that Reverend Powell has served include: Vice President of Muscogee Clergy Association, Columbus GA, President of Muscogee County Prison Board, Columbus, GA, Volunteer Assistant Coach, Youth Football Program, Columbus Parks and Recreation, Columbus, GA. 

Prophet Powell is the author of several inspirational books:  A Fresh Start (2011), “Will the Real Church Please Stand Up?” (2005), The Good the Bad the Ugly of Ministry, A Pioneer Perspective (2001), Walking in Order of the Vision (Defining the Core) (2004).

Reverend Powell and his wife Sandy work in ministry areas together and have become familiar faces at various community events in Columbus and abroad.  Their home in Columbus, Georgia is usually filled with the loving presence of their children and with the sounds of laughter from grandchildren as well as fellowship of many family and friends.  

Chandra, affectionately known as ‘Sandy’, was born March 20, in Brooklyn, New York.  She and her family relocated to South Carolina when Sandy was still in secondary school.  Sandy is a 1982 graduate of Columbia High School in Columbia, South Carolina. Following graduation from high school, Sandy attended Rutledge College in Columbia, South Carolina.  

Sandy Powell is an active member of the Columbus Georgia Faith Based Community and participates in many aspects of advocacy in the Columbus Community which has gained her notoriety and respect by the Faith Community.  In 1992, she joined World Changes Tabernacle, Columbus, GA where she serves as Administrator responsible for the Administrative Operations of the church, church ministries, Broadcast Ministry and the Public Non-Profit operated by the Church. 

In 2003, Sandy was called into Christian Ministry.  After completing the requirements of a Ministerial Course of Study under PLP Ministries, Inc., Columbus, Georgia, Chandra was ordained as a Elder of the Gospel in 2005.  As an Elder of the Gospel,  Lady Powell now operates in the Prophetic realm and has taken the role of Prophetess Powell.  In addition to her community services, Sandy Powell works in the ministry areas as Director of The Women of Excellence Ministry, Couples Enrichment Ministry (along with her husband) and other duties in Pastoral Care. 

In 2012 Sandy Powell created “Bridging The Generation” Community Support Outreach. It is her desire to see the development of programs including supportive services, transitional living homes and outreach for youth. In 2018, Sandy introduced The Round Table (click here) which was created to discuss real life issues and provide real solutions that are full of Godly wisdom and guidance. With the life experiences of raising children, Sandy Powell is keenly aware of the importance of youth and young adults having supportive connections through their early years. She believes this is of an importance to ensure that they are successful adults for their latter years.  Sandy Powell resides in Columbus, Georgia with her husband, Senior Pastor, CEO, and president of World Changes Tabernacle.
